Poland and Mexico tie 0-0 after Robert Lewandowski misses a penalty.

In a World Cup that has seen its fair share of surprises, one of the biggest has been the form of Robert Lewandowski who missed a penalty as his side were held to a goalless draw by Mexico. Lewandowski has never scored at a World Cup and the Barcelona striker had the chance to put his side ahead in the second half but saw his spot kick saved by Guillermo Ochoa. It was a frustrating game for both teams, with Lewandowski wasting the best chance of a cagey encounter and Mexico failing to make their dominance count.

Both teams had their moments in the game, but it was ultimately a frustrating evening for both as they failed to find the breakthrough. Poland was disappointed not to have taken the lead, but were relieved that they did not lose the game. Mexico, on the other hand, were also disappointed not to have won, but were pleased that they did not lose.

The result leaves both teams with work to do if they are to progress to the last 16, with Saudi Arabia’s surprise win over Argentina earlier in the day opening up the group. Lewandowski will be hoping for better luck in front of goal when Poland takes on the Saudis in their next game, while Mexico will face the Argentina.
