Julian Nagelsmann is sacked as Bayern Munich head coach with Thomas Tuchel to be appointed.

According to German news outlet, Thomas Tuchel is expected to succeed Julian Nagelsmann as coach of Bayern Munich.

The defending Bundesliga champions are struggling at home this year and are currently second to Borussia Dortmund.

Nagelsmann, who hasn’t gone to the practice field this week, will meet with Bayern management on Friday to receive the official announcement of the choice. Tuchel, 49, has been jobless since the Stamford Bridge club fired him in September under Todd Boehly’s new ownership.

Former manager of Paris Saint-Germain and Dortmund, Tuchel has been residing in Munich for a few weeks. Tuchel will be the new manager of Bayern, as the team’s players are already aware.

The German powerhouses have won 10 straight Bundesliga championships and will take on Manchester City in the quarterfinals of the Champions League next month.

Bayern, though, has struggled in the Bundesliga, and the Bavarians feel pressure to take action to retain their title.

Nagelsmann has won 60 of his 84 games since taking over in July 2021, although during his career, he has only won one Bundesliga championship and two German Super Cups.

Prior to the international break, Bayern lost 2-1 to Bayern Leverkusen. When they resume domestic play, they will face Dortmund in Der Klassiker. If they lost, they would fall four points behind Edin Terzic’s team.
