Arteta’s Arsenal loyalty shines amidst PSG interest

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been actively searching for a new manager to lead their team, and one potential option on their radar is former player Mikel Arteta.

However, despite contact from the French giants, Arteta remains content with his current role at Arsenal.

Following Christophe Galtier’s departure, PSG has been exploring various candidates to fill the managerial vacancy.

While Julian Nagelsmann and Luciano Spaletti were initially considered, discussions with both parties have hit obstacles, leaving PSG in need of alternative choices.

Surprisingly, Arteta has emerged as a candidate. According to RMC Sport, PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos has reached out to the Spaniard, considering him as a potential successor to Galtier.

Arteta already has a connection with PSG, having played for the club on loan from Barcelona between 2000 and 2002. He also possesses fluency in French. However, it appears unlikely that Arteta will make a move to PSG at this stage.

Reports suggest that Arteta is currently satisfied in North London and with his role at Arsenal. Having recently signed a contract extension until 2025, he has expressed his commitment to the club.

While Arteta acknowledges the inevitability of leaving Arsenal at some point in the future, his focus remains on his current position and avoiding letting people down.

Despite missing out on the Premier League title last season, Arteta guided Arsenal to a commendable second-place finish and secured a spot in the Champions League.

PSG may now need to explore alternative options, with former managers such as Jose Mourinho frequently linked to a potential move to the Parc des Princes.
