Tottenham 0-2 Aston Villa: Spurs lose at home against Aston villa

With their victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Aston Villa put more pressure on Tottenham manager Antonio Conte.

In his first game back after the World Cup, Hugo Lloris made a mistake that allowed Emiliano Buendia to score before Douglas Luiz increased the lead.
Spurs have now won only two of their last seven games, and they dropped out of the top four in the Premier League on Saturday.
Under Unai Emery, Villa has won back-to-back away league matches.
The two goalkeepers who competed in the 2022 World Cup final penalty shootout appeared to be pitted against one another in this game, but Emiliano Martinez, the hero of Argentina’s penalty shootout, was forced to make do with a spot on the Villa bench.

Cristian Romero, a World Cup-winning defender for Tottenham, received a caution in the first half and was fortunate not to receive a second for shoving Philippe Coutinho, while Lloris experienced a startling incident in the 50th minute.

He mishandled a long-range shot from Luiz, and Ollie Watkins squared the rebound for Buendia to score.

The play for a score of 2-0 was initiated and completed by Luiz, who slid a pass to John McGinn before sprinting to get the rebound and chip it skillfully beyond Lloris.

At the final whistle, supporters booed Tottenham while others chanted insults at chairman Daniel Levy.
