The Mbappe transfer twist

Kylian Mbappe’s impending departure from Paris Saint-Germain marks the end of an era, with the forward set to join Real Madrid.

Out of contract this summer, Mbappe informed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision, signaling his intention to move on.

While the exact terms of his exit are yet to be finalized, negotiations are underway regarding whether Mbappe will depart for a fee or forgo personal earnings.

PSG are confident that Mbappe will honor his pledge to never leave on a free transfer. An official announcement is expected once these details are resolved.

Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappe is longstanding, and despite the need for him to take a pay cut to join, they are willing to make him their highest-paid player.

This move comes after PSG rejected a €220m (£188m) bid from Real Madrid in 2021, prompting Mbappe to sign a new three-year deal, which is now expiring.

If Mbappe were to extend his contract by a year, PSG would value him at €150m (£128m) in the upcoming transfer window.

Last summer, PSG also rejected a €300m (£256m) offer from Saudi club Al Hilal, which Mbappe declined.

His move to Real Madrid marks a significant shift in the football landscape, with the 25-year-old poised to take on a new challenge in La Liga.
