For the 2023 Formula 1 world championship, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is “certain” he can compete with colleague Max Verstappen. After two races, the Mexican driver is only one point behind Verstappen in the drivers’ rankings.
He won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the second year in succession on March 19. In the driver rankings, Verstappen maintained his advantage with a second-place finish. But Perez is confident he can win the title with Red Bull and defeat the Dutchman.
We have a very strong car, a very strong package, a car I feel comfortable with, a car I am working well with, and a car I believe, with the direction we are taking in development, I can get the most out of,” Perez said, despite qualifying 15th due to a gearbox problem and being sick all week leading up to the race. To quote Michael Phelps:
“When you’re hunting for the championship, you must bring your A-game to every race.” Perez also emphasized the value of reliability and handling things one race at a time. He knows that he needs to be consistent all season long and that beating Verstappen every weekend is essential to win the championship.
After this season, the Mexican driver will have outlasted Daniel Ricciardo, who left Red Bull for Renault in 2019, as Verstappen’s longest-serving teammate. Both Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon have raced against Verstappen during their time at Red Bull but have yet to keep up with the Dutchman’s speed. If I want to win the title of king, Perez said, “I have to beat Max every weekend and keep this level of consistency all season long.”
As the Australian Grand Prix approaches, Perez is confident in his chances of winning the championship, while Ferrari keeps a level head.
The Italian team’s performance has dipped recently, and they placed sixth in the 2022 constructors’ championship. Mattia Binotto, the leader of the Ferrari squad, said, “We know where we are.” “We don’t have to dream; we just have to be humble, work hard, and stay focused on the job,” he said. Ferrari, despite recent difficulties, is still considered one of F1’s most dominant teams. The squad’s goal for the 2023 season is to progress from the previous campaign and contend for podium finishes. The Melbourne track is well-known for its fast and flowing design.
