Red Bull Racing has launched its 2023 Formula 1 car, the RB19, and confirmed a new engine partnership with Ford. The American manufacturing giant will return to F1 for the first time in 22 years and will be part-funding the hybrid power unit that Red Bull is designing for the new regulations.
They pulled off the spectacular double-reveal launch event in New York City, unveiling a stunning new car and confirming a major engine partnership with Ford to help them defend their Formula 1 world championships.
The new car, the RB19, was revealed to the world in all its glory at the launch, with drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez both present.
While the car – which features the traditional Red Bull livery – will be shaken down before the three-day pre-season test begins on February 23, it is expected to look different when it hits the track for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
The major announcement from the launch, however, was the confirmation of a major new engine partnership with Ford, which will kick in in 2026.
Ford is returning to F1 for the first time in 22 years to partially fund the engine Red Bull is designing for the new regulations and will be working with Red Bull Powertrains on the new hybrid power unit.
This power unit will also be supplied to Red Bull’s sister team, AlphaTauri. Red Bull’s double-launch event in New York was certainly one to remember, and the team will now be hoping that the RB19 will be just as successful as last year, especially with the help of their new engine partner.
With the season opener just a few weeks away, the race is now on to see who will be crowned F1 world champions in 2023.
