Martin Tyler, a Sky Sports veteran, will return in a new capacity four months after leaving

Martin Tyler won’t be making commentary for Sky Sports, but he will be back on the pitch on Monday to cover Fulham’s trip to Tottenham.

Tyler spent more than thirty years as Sky’s primary Premier League pundit when his contract terminated at the end of the previous campaign. Peter Drury took the 78-year-old’s position as a pundit, although the former said he wasn’t quitting.

Tyler will cover the forthcoming London derby for Premier League Productions, keeping his word. The Premier League owns the firm that provides the global feed. Not every broadcasting partner in the division has a production team of their own.

Tyler is most recognized for these two instances. The first was in April 1996, when Liverpool won one of the greatest games in Premier League history, defeating Newcastle 4-3. Tyler exclaimed, “Collymore closing in!” as Stan Collymore scored the winning goal.

The second incident happened in May 2012 when Manchester City won their first Premier League title thanks to a last-minute goal by Sergio Aguero against Queens Park Rangers, depriving Manchester United. Tyler let out a startled “Aguerroooooooooooo!”

Tyler’s abrupt departure was announced by Sky in June. He missed the opportunity to complete the season in style because he was sick toward the end of the previous one. “It’s been a privilege to play a small part in the broadcasting history of the greatest league in the world,” stated Tyler as he left.
