Mohamed Salah becomes Liverpool’s all time goal scorer after a Manchester United annihilation at Anfield.

Liverpool destroyed Manchester United 7-0 in what was arguably the biggest Premier League thrashing of all time.

In a great performance by Liverpool , Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, and Salah each scored twice, and Roberto Firmino added a seventh as Manchester United surrendered to scenes of hysterical celebration from the home crowd.

Erik ten Hag’s team entered the game with an 11-game unbeaten streak and had just ended a six-year trophy drought, but they were thoroughly outclassed, giving up six second-half goals in a rowdy atmosphere on a day that Liverpool supporters will never forget.

Although Bruno  and Rashford missed decent opportunities in the first half, United did have opportunities. However, two goals in close succession at the start of the second half resulted in a thumping as United gave up. Liverpool is on the rise, with renewed expectations of finishing in the top four.

They surpass Newcastle and currently sit in fifth place, three points behind Spurs with a game remaining. United’s futile attempts to elbow their way into the Premier League title race were dashed by this shocking loss, which extends their seven-year winless streak at Anfield.

Nobody could have foreseen this in advance or even at the break, but Liverpool did start out with a lot of energy, pushing hard for the opening goal with Salah leading the way and Andy Robertson swarming down the left, but completely obvious chances for the home team took a while to materialize.

The early sense of irritation among the home crowd was increased by Martinez’s elbow upon Salah, which the referees missed, and United really had the greater chance while the game was scoreless. Fernandes made a poor turn. Rashford made a subdued finish.

The third goal was created by Salah, who made Martinez look dumb on the wing before slipping a pass through for Gakpo to once again finish well. Liverpool was in a good mood, with confidence permeating the group and the previously lost energy now being recovered.

After Nunez’s breakaway goal, Salah added a goal of his own to make it four. The Egyptian scored on the counter-attack after the ball bounced in his direction. He blasted the ball high into David De Gea’s goal. United were stunned. Liverpool is merely craving more.

Nunez’s second game-winning header occurred in the fifth minute. Nunez and Gakpo immediately left the field together as the fans erupted in jubilation. However, the commotion persisted. After more shoddy United defense, Salah finished with a tap-in to set a new Premier League scoring record for Liverpool.

Firmino still had to seize the opportunity. The Brazilian had a warm welcome after it was revealed that he would be departing the team in the summer this week. He made the occasion even more memorable by scoring the seventh goal during one of the great Liverpool nights.
