Harry Kane announces himself to the Bundesliga

England captain Harry Kane scored and set up another goal on his Bundesliga debut as champions Bayern Munich cruised past Werder Bremen.

Bayern’s record £100 million signing excelled on his debut, as Kane required just four minutes to put up Leroy Sane for their opener with a superb through-ball. In the 74th minute, the England captain scored his first Bayern goal with a low finish inside the box.

Late in the game, Mathys Tel sealed a comfortable victory for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

It was a good night for Bayern and their record-signing Kane, who arrived in Bavaria amid much excitement but had a terrible start in the German Super Cup, losing 3-0 to RB Leipzig.
Over a year after the prolific Polish striker’s move to Barcelona, Kane skillfully laid on the first goal for Sane.

His quick thinking brought the former Manchester City winger racing clear to send a low effort into the bottom left corner.

After the break, Bremen attacked, but Kane scored the visitors’ second goal of the night, collecting Alphonso Davies’ exquisite ball before picking his place and sending a low shot into the bottom left corner.

Bayern had won the previous 11 Bundesliga championships, but their point total of 71 last season, which allowed them to just edge a struggling Borussia Dortmund, was their lowest since finishing third in 2010–11.

They have attempted to make up for that narrow escape, though, by bringing in a number of new players, notably South Korean defender Kim Min-Jae from Napoli.
