Gor Mahia has won the FKF Premier League for the 20th time.

Following their title victory on Sunday, Gor Mahia coach Jonathan McKinstry praised his team for proving their naysayers wrong.

McKinstry’s men rallied from a goal down to defeat Nairobi City Stars 4-1 at Kasarani Stadium, claiming their 20th league title.

Gor entered the season-ending encounter with 67 points, one more than Tusker FC, and needed to win to secure the title, but had to experience a roller-coaster ride before triumphing.

K’Ogalo appeared hesitant in the first half, which ended goalless, before being surprised by their hosts five minutes after halftime, but they returned with style to put their fans to sleep.

McKinstry was overjoyed with the result because he believes his team overcame the odds after not being considered a title contender at the start of the season due to their transfer ban and other off-field concerns, which included player go-slows due to delayed salary payments.

Gor, who finished the season with 70 points, one more than Tusker, who defeated Vihiga Bullets 4-0, have now reclaimed the title that they last won in 2020, with 20 points, seven more than the Brewers, Kenya’s second most successful team.
