Joshua Onyango gave K’Ogalo the lead in the eighth minute with a stunning header after Jackson Macharia put him up. K’Ogalo was quick off the mark.
After that, Gor Mahia kept in control and extended their lead in the 18th minute when Benson Omalla broke in on goal and sent the ball past Kevin Olango, the defenseless Talanta goalie.
Just before the half-hour mark, Talanta continued to play second fiddle, but they were excused as Brian Yakhama hoofed a low ball into the areas from Ian Omondi well over the top.
The visitors made three changes introducing Vincent Owino, Alvin Ochieng, and Catro Agendo as they looked to reduce the deficit.
However, Joshua Mahero worked tirelessly in the middle of the park to ensure the Gor defense was well protected.
Talanta kept pushing, and Brian Yakhama had a chance to shoot at Gor Mahia in the game’s closing stages, but the experienced striker placed his effort wide of the target.
Ultimately, Gor Mahia was able to contain Talanta in the dying minutes of the game and they secured a 3-0 victory in the afternoon.
Every time Gor Mahia advanced, they appeared to be a threat. In the 40th minute, Talanta goalkeeper Kevin Olang’o made a fine stop on a long-range shot from John Macharia.
When Godfrey Ochieng set up John Macharia, who made it 3-0 against Gor Mahia a minute before halftime, Olang’o was defeated for the third time.
