Giroud scores 52 goals to become France’s all-time leading scorer.

In Sunday’s World Cup round of 16 match against Poland, Olivier Giroud scored to surpass Michel Platini as France’s all-time leading scorer with 52 goals.

After scoring twice in the reigning champions’ 4-1 victory against Australia in their opening Group D match, Giroud, 36, had tied Thierry Henry for 51 goals.

Henry scored 51 goals from 123 appearances for France between 1997 and 2010, but the AC Milan forward broke the record on his 117th appearance.
