Brentford FC stuns Manchester City to win at the Etihad

In their final game before the World Cup, Brentford defeated Manchester City in an astounding triumph. It has been years since the Bees defeated City away from home, but they got off to a wonderful start with two excellent chances for Frank Onyeka and Ivan Toney inside the first 10 minutes.

Ben Mee won the first ball and nodded it up to Toney in the area, where the Brentford captain headed the Bees in ahead from a long free kick. After that, the visitors relaxed and tried to hold onto their advantage until halftime, but Man City suddenly got going. They had the majority of the ball and gained momentum close to the Brentford penalty area.

Phil Foden then scored a goal to tie the score for City shortly before halftime after Kevin De Bruyne flicked a corner into his path.

10 minutes of stoppage time were extended at the end as City attempted to score a late winner due to Aymeric Laporte’s injury early in the second half. Josh Dasilva fed the ball to Toney during a quick counterattack for a historic victory, but Brentford didn’t lose hope and committed players higher up the field.
