Bournemouth sign midfielder Tyler Adams from Leeds United

Tyler Adams, a midfielder for Leeds United, has been acquired by Bournemouth for an estimated sum in excess of £20 million.

Adams, 24, who has a five-year contract, only transferred from RB Leipzig to Leeds last summer.

But after the Elland Road club was demoted from the Premier League last year, he moved on.

Adams, 24, is expected to sign a five-year contract after allegedly going through a medical on Friday afternoon. After one season with Leeds, during which the American made 24 Premier League appearances, his career with Leeds comes to an end.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that a possible deal for Adams was challenging. Leeds argued that any such provision had lapsed, while Bournemouth insisted that they had activated a $25 million (£20 million) time-limited relegation release clause.

Despite the impasse, conversations went on, and Adams is now expected to return to the top division. He will play in the midfield alongside players like Philip Billing, Lewis Cook, and fellow newcomer Alex Scott under boss Androni Iraola.

Adams traveled to London last week to complete a spectacular transfer to Chelsea, but the deal fell through. The team of Mauricio Pochettino was interested in the former RB Leipzig star but ultimately chose to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in mega-deals.
