Klay Thompson scored a season High 54 points with an OT win over the Hawks

On Monday night, Klay Thompson scored a season-high 54 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 143-141 double-overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Thompson scored 50 points for the first time following his recovery from two devastating injuries.

Thompson made 10 3-pointers, in addition to grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out three assists. After the first overtime, he made a tremendous shot, but the Hawks forced a second.

Thompson was instrumental in giving the Warriors the lead going into the waning seconds of the second overtime period. Kevon Looney saved the day with a game-winning putback at the buzzer after the Hawks knotted the game with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Looney had 14 points, 20 rebounds, and four assists at the game’s conclusion. In addition to Draymond Green’s five points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, Jordan Poole finished with 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Anthony Lamb had a significant contribution off the bench with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Trae Young led the Atlanta Hawks with 30 points, seven rebounds, and 14 assists. John Collins scored 25 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and had two blocks to go with Dejounte Murray’s 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists.
