The Bucks, who were led by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 30 points, closed the gap on the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics to just one game. The Warriors had a challenging night in Milwaukee despite defeating the Celtics on Tuesday.
Stephen Curry seemed to be hit on the head as he made a three-point shot, and coach Steve Kerr’s enraged response cost him a technical penalty. The Bucks were too dominant, and despite momentarily appearing to cut the gap in the second quarter, Kerr withdrew his players in the closing minutes to get them ready for Wednesday’s trip to the Indianapolis Pacers.
Celtics, meanwhile, managed to get back on track with a 122-118 overtime win against the Los Angeles Lakers. Jayson Tatum scored 44 points for the visitors, and Anthony Davis and LeBron James scored 37 and 33 points respectively, but the Lakers lost for the fourth time in their last five games. The Bucks now have a chance to overtake the Celtics at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, while the Warriors will look to bounce back against the Pacers. With the Celtics and Lakers both suffering defeats, the race for top spot in the Western Conference is now wide open.
