Ceferin speaks on Manchester City’s FFP saga

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has affirmed the organization’s conviction that Manchester City breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, despite the lifting of the two-season Champions League ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in 2020.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Ceferin refrained from commenting on the current Premier League charges against City but stated that a guilty verdict would validate UEFA’s stance in 2020.

Manchester City faced a two-season ban and a €30 million fine from UEFA in February 2020 for misleading and violating FFP rules.

However, CAS overturned the ban, reducing the fine to €10 million and contesting several alleged breaches.

The Premier League later charged City with 115 financial rule breaches between 2009 and 2018.

While the league’s hearing date is set, Ceferin’s remarks underscore UEFA’s confidence in the initial charges. City, on the other hand, steadfastly denies any wrongdoing.
