The Brooklyn Nets had a rough start to their season, with off-the-court drama dominating the headlines. The team has struggled to find its footing, and currently sits in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
As a result of Kyrie Irving’s extended ban issued for refusing to certify that he had no antisemitic sentiments, the Nets are still without their starting point guard. Irving was given a minimum five-game ban but has already missed seven, and the Nets have clearly felt his absence.
The Nets were dealt another blow when they lost back-to-back games to the Lakers and Kings. Their performance against Sacramento was one of the worst of any team this season, as they gave up 153 points in a 32-point loss.
The Portland Trail Blazers, on the other hand, has had a very successful season. They currently sit atop the Western Conference and have lost only one game in five games. The Trail Blazers will be looking to continue their success against the Nets on Friday.
The Blazers come into this game as heavy favorites, but the Nets have shown they can be competitive at times. If the Nets can find a way to slow down Lillard, they have a chance to pull off the upset. However, the Blazers have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season and they should be able to get the win in this one.
