Manchester United says NO!! to Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood’s career will continue outside of Manchester United. According to numerous accounts, this is more related to the public outcry over the player’s reintegration than it is to the conclusions of the club’s internal investigation.
This week, Manchester United officially revealed the results of a six-month process guided by an executive panel.

Greenwood and the team concluded that it would be best for him to resume his career elsewhere rather than at Old Trafford.

This came about as a result of what United considers to be an exhaustive investigation of the circumstances and facts surrounding the upsetting content posted on social media in January 2022.

The Crown Prosecution Services filed charges against Greenwood for attempted rape, assault, and using coercive and controlling behavior as a result of the horrifying pictures and audio recordings.

That occurred on October 15, 2022, the same day that he allegedly broke one of his bail conditions.

All accusations against Greenwood were dismissed in February as a result of pivotal witnesses quitting their cases and the discovery of fresh evidence.

At that point, the investigation into United commenced, which was supervised by the company’s CEO Richard Arnold, COO Collette Roche, FD John Murtough, GC Patrick Stewart, and COO Ellie Norman.

According to what we’ve been told, United’s end result was not what the club’s football operations had envisioned for a forward whose value exceeded £100 million at the time of his arrest last year.

High-placed insiders question the club’s claim that inviting the academy graduate back to Carrington was their final decision and was only one of many scenarios they had envisaged.

Given the reputational harm incurred over the past several days, it will be necessary to face some unpleasant facts regarding whether the way the matter was handled reflected the standards the club wished to uphold.

All levels of United staff have been open about admitting that if Greenwood had been an average player, he would have been dropped as soon as he was suspended. The club acknowledges its obligation to take care of him.

It is alleged that in order to enforce outcomes on the field, United was initially willing to forfeit sponsors, and a ton of other commercial revenue, and face opposition.
