Chelsea gets Humbled after defeat at 10-man West Ham Squad

Mauricio Pochettino’s new Chelsea squad was defeated 3-1 away at West Ham United on Sunday, extending the club’s five-day winless streak.

Nayef Aguerd’s header, Michail Antonio’s breakaway strike, and Lucas Paqueta’s late penalty clinched victory for West Ham, who finished with 10 men after Aguerd was dismissed for a second yellow card midway through the second half.

West Ham’s opening two goals were assisted by newcomer James Ward-Prowse, who joined the club this month from Southampton.

Chelsea equalized Aguerd’s goal in the 28th minute with a well-taken equalizer by Carney Chukwuemeka, and they only had themselves to blame for the defeat, as they dominated possession, wasted chances, and had a penalty saved by Enzo Fernandez.

Pochettino threw in the club’s most recent big-money signing, Moises Caicedo, in an attempt to save the game, but he gave away the penalty that sealed his side’s doom.

West Ham has four points from their first two games, while Chelsea has one point after hosting Luton Town on Friday.
