Moises Caicedo appears to have turned down the opportunity to join Liverpool in favor of a move to Chelsea, despite the Reds negotiating a British-record fee of £111 million with Brighton.
Brighton accepted Liverpool’s offer after a midnight deadline for bids on the midfielder was established on Thursday. Chelsea is said to be willing to pay up to £100 million for the talent.
Liverpool was engaged in negotiations with Brighton to determine all the financial terms of a deal in the event that Chelsea was unable to come to an agreement.
Just after midnight, Liverpool received word that they had won the auction.Independiente del Valle sold Caicedo to Brighton for £4.5 million in 2021.
According to the report, Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea is not wanted by Brighton, and the midfielder is now enraged over the entire ordeal.
It is evident that the Seagulls, who are also interested in Caicedo, have found it simpler to conduct business with Liverpool.
The Ecuadorian international, who excels at winning the ball, might be the ideal alternative for World Cup champion Ngolo Kante.
Last season, Caicedo made 100 tackles in the Premier League, more than any other player outside Joao Palhinha of Fulham.
In the end, it is easy to understand why Chelsea is so hooked on the Brighton player now that Kante is departing, and it now appears as though they have a great chance of signing him.
Pochettino will probably be content if they can finish this one.
