Kylian Mbappe says he has not asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer and that the letter he sent to the club was leaked with the aim of “damaging his image”.
The French player’s contract expires at the conclusion of the 2024 season, and he told PSG in writing yesterday that he will not be renewing it. His choice sparked rumors that Mbape might transfer to Real Madrid, a possibility he had previously toyed with.
The club is reportedly inclined to sell him if he doesn’t sign a long-term contract since they are desperate to keep him from leaving on a free transfer next year.
The forward has also taken to Twitter to brand reports that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer as “lies”, adding that he is “very happy” with the French champions.
“Mbappe and his entourage claim they have not discussed this point with the club again during the year, except 15 days ago to announce the sending of the letter. Nor has any possible new extension been mentioned.
“Finally, Mbappe and his entourage regret that the receipt of this letter has been transmitted to the media and that these exchanges are made public with the sole aim of damaging his image and the smooth running of conversations with the club.”
It is categorically false to claim that Mbappe’s team has not been participating in renewal discussions, according to PSG.
The club also maintains that the media had the forward’s letter before it was submitted to them.
Mbappe might be sold during the current transfer window since PSG won’t let him depart for free when his contract expires.
Mbappe turned down offers from Real Madrid to sign his current PSG contract, which has a two-year deal with a player option to extend it by another year, last summer.
