Following the alleged racial abuse of Vinicius Jr., the Technical Committee of Referees and the Royal Spanish Football Federation have reportedly sacked six VAR officials.
Vinicius was at the center of all the negative things that happened as Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Valencia on Sunday.
The Valencia fans who were allegedly racially taunting Vinicius from the stands initially engaged the Brazilian winger in a violent argument.
The boisterous home crowd at Mestalla began pouring racist abuse at the Brazilian winger with monkey chants within the first 20 minutes. The game had to be delayed for many minutes at one point when Vinicius stopped playing to confront several Valencia fans in the stands.
Fans were warned over the loudspeakers to stop their bigoted behavior, but it was in vain. The cries escalated even louder, with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti claiming that the entire stadium was yelling “monkey” at his player.
After being treated roughly by the Valencia player, the 22-year-old was subsequently given a red card for hitting him, drawing ironic jeers from the home crowd.
However, it appears that they have since learned their lesson as six La Liga officials have been fired, including Iglesias Villanueva, who was in charge of the VAR during Real Madrid’s loss to Valencia, according to Marca.
The investigation cited incomplete photos provided to on-field referee De Burgos Bengoechea as the reason for the decision to fire the officials, which resulted in Vinicus receiving a red card.
