Álvaro García restored parity for Rayo just before the break, and Óscar Trejo dispatched a retaken penalty in the second half to seal an unlikely victory for the hosts. Iraola’s men put in a fabulous display to emerge victorious, with their high intensity causing problems for Real Madrid all evening.

This result will no doubt come as a shock to many, but credit must go to Rayo Vallecano for their performance.
