Walker committed to Man City despite uncertain future

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is reportedly set to stay at the Etihad Stadium for the 2023/24 campaign, despite manager Pep Guardiola’s recent comments about his suitability for the team’s current set-up.

While several clubs, including Aston Villa and AC Milan, have shown interest in the right-back, Walker is said to have no desire to leave City this summer.

The Daily Star reports that although Walker is no longer an automatic starter for the Premier League champions, he is happy to stay and fight for a place in Guardiola’s side.

The veteran defender’s current contract is set to expire at the end of next season, and City would reportedly demand a fee of around £25 million to part ways with the four-time Premier League winner this summer.

Guardiola has recently admitted that Walker does not have the necessary credentials to fill the inverted full-back role that the Spaniard has opted to deploy this season.

However, the City boss also emphasized that Walker still has many valuable attributes that make him an important member of the team.

“He will always have pace. He will be the fastest in this room at 60 years old,” Guardiola said, adding that the decision to exclude Walker from the team’s current tactical set-up is based on tactical considerations, rather than any lack of faith in the player’s ability.

Will Pep bench Walker next season?

While Walker’s future at City may be uncertain beyond next season, the defender’s willingness to bide his time and fight for a place in the team is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the club.

As one of the most experienced members of the City squad, Walker’s leadership and determination will undoubtedly be invaluable to the team as they continue to compete for trophies both domestically and in Europe.

Kyle Walker’s decision to stay at Manchester City for another season despite the club’s recent tactical changes demonstrates his loyalty and commitment to the team.

While his future beyond next season remains uncertain, Walker’s willingness to fight for a place in the squad will undoubtedly make him a valuable asset to the team in the years to come.
