Faith Kipyegon and Eliud Kipchoge win the top prizes at the 2022 SOYA Awards.

Emmanuel Korir, the Olympic and world 800m champion, and Ferdinard Omanyala, the 100-meter champion from the Commonwealth Games, were among the other nominees in the category that Kipchoge defeated.

Faith Chepng’etich Kipyegon, the female winner of the 1500-meter Olympic race, won the competition by defeating fellow contenders Beatrice Chebet and tennis star Angela Okutuyi.

Simon Kibai, a two-time Deaflympics champion, also kept his Athlete Living with a Disability medal, while Para weightlifter Hellen Wawira took first place in the women’s division.

Andrew Wahome, who was recently chosen as South Africa’s golfer of the year, received the Most Promising Boy award, while Medina Okot, who was a key member of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) basketball team that won the national championship, received the Most Promising Girl award.
