The Soccer World Mourns the Death of Anton Walkes.

The death of 25-year-old Anton Walkes, a former Tottenham Hotspur, and Charlotte FC player, has rocked the soccer world. On his way to Florida for a training camp with the club, Walkes died in a boating accident off the coast of Miami Wednesday.

He made one senior appearance for Spurs in the League Cup, coming on as a sub in a 5-0 win over Gillingham in 2016. He went to the United States to join Atlanta United. Before moving on to play for Atlanta United and Portsmouth, Walkes was a member of Tottenham Hotspur’s youth club on loan in 2017, the team’s first MLS season, and then joined the club permanently in 2020 after another spell at Portsmouth. Walkes then joined Charlotte FC for the 2022 MLS season.

The news of Walkes’ death has sent shockwaves throughout the MLS community, with Charlotte FC owner David Tepper leading the tributes. Walkes’ legacy will live long in the memory of those who knew him, and he will be remembered as an inspirational figure both on and off the field. At just 25 years old, Walkes was taken from the world far too soon, leaving a massive void in the soccer community. His legacy, however, will live on and be remembered by all who knew him.
