Nottingham Forest has completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Danilo from Palmeiras, with the 21-year-old committing his future to the Premier League side until 2029. The Reds have beaten off a host of European competition to secure the signature of the highly-rated youngster, who arrives as one of the top young talents in Brazil.
Danilo has made 141 appearances in all competitions with Palmeiras, winning two Copa Libertadores and the domestic league and cup titles. He was also named in the Team of the Year as Palmeiras won the Campeonato Paulista and the Brazilian Serie A title in 2022.
The 21-year-old has now put pen to paper on a six-and-a-half-year deal with Nottingham Forest and has immediately expressed his desire to help the club achieve positive results. The Forest new boy will wear the No.28 shirt at the City Ground, and Reds fans will be hoping that the signing of Danilo will be the first of many as Steve Cooper looks to build a squad capable of challenging for European qualification. Forest is currently 13th in the Premier League, but with the addition of Danilo, they will be hoping to push on and climb the table over the coming months.
Only time will tell if the Brazilian can live up to his expectations, but Nottingham Forest has taken a risk in signing a player with such potential, which could pay off in the future.
